Hi friends,
Some of you may face problem with installing XP into a SATA drive-espesially the laptop guys.(i'm also).
I have a Compaq Presario C3780tu lap.The setup may not recognise the SATA drive and ask for drivers in a floppy!(press F9). But Microsoft Windows does not provide any option to a system without a floppy drive. The setup will prompt to exit due to unrecognised SATA drive (no other option at all!).
There is a small utiltiy called n lite will help in this problem, It's an XP ISO builder which will allow to integrate the neccessary drivers, service packs ,patches, hotfixes etc. to a single bootable XP ISO.
You can get it from:
http://www.nliteos.com/download.html
Install it.
Now download or locate the driver for your SATA Drive , extract and place it in a folder.
Run nlite and put an XP CD in drive.Select an extraction path.Select 'integrate driver' option from nlite menu. Point out the driver .inf file you saved. Make sure that you selected text mode driver and the correct controller for your device. Make an ISO.,burn it and boot with it.
Now the installation will continue normally;it will recognise the drive and will not ask for a floppy drive or F9 press any more. The setup continues normally.
Now i'm running XP instaed of hungry Vista.
