Installing Windows XP form a USB Pendrive

Hi,

Some of you may face situations to install Win XP from a USB pendrive. The installation of XP from a USB drive is not an easy task.Just copying the installation and booting files to the pendrive may not help you to Boot and install XP from a pendrive.
First you need the Support of BIOS to boot from the pendrive. The older motherbord's BIOS may not have options to do this.An updating of BIOS will fix this problem. The newer BIOS have this option built in.
Then you need a good quality pendrive. When i'm used a woring sandisk cruzer 2GB drive the installation has failed several times.I don't know the reason for this. But when i'm used another one ,it was successfull at the first attempt itself.
Then you need a program called USB multi boot. You can get it from here.It is a wonderfull utilty helps you to install XP from a USB.I tried several other utiltiiees and failed. But this one helped me very much.Thanx to the authers.
Download the above program and extract to a folder.
Place an XP CD on the drive.
Put a pendrive to the system.

Then follow these steps:

Run the usb_multiboot_10.cmd file.
Presss any key to contine.
Select the formatting option. Then the program will format the pendrive.Leave the formatting options on the programs unchnged if you hav no idea what to do..

After formatting completed a new menu appers with several options.
Set options 1 and 2.Choose the pendrive location and the XP CD drive.
Choose 3 after setting the 1 and 2.Answer yes to all the ques appering on the way. You have options to do un attended installation also.

After successfully finishes the copying , remove the drive.
Reboot the system needed to install XP. When starting up,press appropriate key to change the boot order.
Select the USB drive as the first bootable device. The sytem will now boot form pendrive.Choose the option 1 [text installation] on the menu appears.
after the sytem reboot select the option 2[GUI installation].
Remove the drive only after you successfully logon to the system.

XP in SATA without floppy drive.

Hi friends,
Some of you may face problem with installing XP into a SATA drive-espesially the laptop guys.(i'm also).
I have a Compaq Presario C3780tu lap.The setup may not recognise the SATA drive and ask for drivers in a floppy!(press F9). But Microsoft Windows does not provide any option to a system without a floppy drive. The setup will prompt to exit due to unrecognised SATA drive (no other option at all!).
There is a small utiltiy called n lite will help in this problem, It's an XP ISO builder which will allow to integrate the neccessary drivers, service packs ,patches, hotfixes etc. to a single bootable XP ISO.
You can get it from:
http://www.nliteos.com/download.html
Install it.
Now download or locate the driver for your SATA Drive , extract and place it in a folder.
Run nlite and put an XP CD in drive.Select an extraction path.Select 'integrate driver' option from nlite menu. Point out the driver .inf file you saved. Make sure that you selected text mode driver and the correct controller for your device. Make an ISO.,burn it and boot with it.
Now the installation will continue normally;it will recognise the drive and will not ask for a floppy drive or F9 press any more. The setup continues normally.

Now i'm running XP instaed of hungry Vista.

conflicker virus

The Conficker virus, which has infected millions of computers around the world, is finally activating itself in a bid to become a money-making machine for cybercriminals.Infected machines have started to update themselves and download a fake anti-virus program aimed at tricking users into paying out for useless security software, security researchers said.Researchers at Kaspersky Labs found that Conficker was downloading a fake $49.95 security scanner called Spyware Protect 2009, which may mean millions of Conficker-infected machines will start getting pop-up messages advertising the product.
The Conficker virus started spreading late last year.Once the worm is on a computer, that PC becomes part of a “botnet” – a network of computers that can be controlled by the virus's creator.
A task force assembled by Microsoft has been working to stamp out the worm and the company has placed a bounty of $250,000 on the heads of those responsible for the threat.
